Australian all-rounder Shane Lee will make his debut for Worcestershire Royals in tomorrow's table-topping Norwich Union League Division One showdown with title rivals Glamorgan Dragons at New Road (1pm).
The 28-year-old replaces Andy Bichel who has now returned 'down under' for international duties.
The County's Director of Cricket Tom Moody said: "Shane's going to be a great asset to us. He's a good all-round cricketer and he'll fit the balance of our squad very well.
"Andy is going to be a hard man to replace because he was such an outstanding overseas pro, but Shane's been here and been involved in county cricket before. He knows what it's about.
"He's got international experience so he's going to bring to the dressing room a hell of a lot. I'm sure this side will benefit from him."
Lee who has played 45 one-day internationals for Australia, was with Somerset in 1996 when he topped their batting averages.
Second-placed Glamorgan are in league action today against Somerset at Cardiff, looking to reduce the eight-point lead Worcestershire hold at the top of the table.
Today's match is one of two the Welsh county have in hand over New Road skipper Graeme Hick's men.
Moody said: "It's a big game tomorrow. Glamorgan have also been in form in this competition and are a good side, well balanced in one-day cricket and its going to be a good challenge for us.
"If we just keep on playing the positive cricket we have been then I'm sure we will come out at the right end.
"It's a great situation to be in having a bit of buffer of a game or two, but we don't intend on losing any games so it doesn't really matter how much lead you have got.
"We need to keep looking at the positive angle and not hope that other people are going to lose and win for us.
"I think if we take that frame of mind into our games it won't matter who else plays and what they do."
