A DOG re-homing centre is flying the flag for St George after helping out a boisterous puppy.

Nine-month-old George became an instant hit at the National Canine Defence League in Evesham and put his best paw forward to find new owners.

And today he will celebrate the patron saint's day by going to a new home.

The collie-cross puppy has helped the staff at the re-homing centre get in the mood.

"George came into the centre this week after his owners could no longer care for him," said Evesham manager Chris Slight.

"We get so many dogs coming into the centres looking for new homes that we often run out of original names to give them. George seemed perfect considering we are coming up to St George's Day."

But his canine chums are also looking for homes where they will get lots of love and attention.

Anyone who wants to offer them a home can call the centre on 01386 830613.
