THE new markings on roundabouts should be nipped in the bud now.

I work near the island in question and I can assure you that the rush hour queues are very real.

I know several people who have changed their route to and from work to avoid this new hazard.

When you leave Sainsbury's (eventually) you join a local lane. You then cross over to the A441 lane, then over to another local lane.

You then have to veer over to the left to join the A441 up the hill towards Redditch and 'other districts'.

The straight arrows were apparently put in so foreign drivers don't go round the roundabout the wrong way.

Are we to believe this is the first roundabout foreign drivers encounter after leaving the ferry ports?

Or do they perhaps have to negotiate one or two before they reach Redditch?

This waste of paint and taxpayers' money may well have slowed the traffic flow, indeed it has all but brought it to a standstill.

But it has not done much for the motorists' patience, temper or blood pressure.
