A COUPLE experienced an Easter to remember after mounting a marathon charity motorcycle trip from Land's End to John O' Groats.

Bryan Sandy and his finace Sarah Pritchard had set themselves the challenge to make the 853- mile journey from Cornwall to Scotland in 15 hours to raise money for the Acorns Children's Hospice Appeal..

During their round trip they clocked up a massive 1,884 miles on their BMW R1100 RS, riding from Worcester to Land's End to John O' Groats and then back to Worcester.

Although they did not manage to travel the distance within the time they had hoped they still raised around £650 for Acorns, when they arrived home on Monday evening.

Their trek began on Good Friday when they travelled from there home in Hydrangea Close, St Peter's to Land's End.

At 5am on Saturday they left Cornwall and headed up to Scotland arriving in John O' Groats 16 and a half-hours later at 9.30pm.

Lorry driver Bryan said there was quite heavy traffic around Manchester, which caused them to fall behind, also in Scotland he found himself tired so they stopped for rest, but nonetheless hey were very proud to have made the trek.

"Scotland was beautiful," said 39-year-old Bryan.

"We both loved it and we could not have asked for better weather up there.

"We did it because it is really the only long distance challenge in Britain," he added.

Bryan did all the riding while Sarah, who is a police civilian support staff worker, was his pillion passenger.

The couple took the scenic for the trip back to Worcester, driving around Loch Ness and stopped off for the night in Fort William on Sunday where they sampled some haggis.
