A FOOTBALL fun day in aid of children with life-limited illnesses is kicking off at Worcester City Football Club over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
And organisers hope to make more than £10,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice from the event at St George's Lane on Sunday, May 4.
Starting at noon, the extravaganza will include plenty of pitch action as well as 12 hours of family entertainment.
Local skittles team the Thunderbirds will go head-to-head with Fernhill Heath's Wild Boys at 10.30am, while St George's RC Primary tackles Red Hill Primary at midday.
Fun starts at 1.30pm
The fun day itself starts at 1.30pm with stilt walkers, gladiators, sumo wrestlers and a marching band.
There will also be bouncy castles, face painting, a pig roast, skittles, paint ball, a Punch & Judy show and junior disco.
Live bands, Medford and Setting Sons, will take centre stage from 7pm to 10.30pm.
Owner of Blackpole-based E&E Engineering and organiser, Paul Wild, said he was keen to raise around £10,000 for Acorns' Three Counties Appeal.
The charity needs to raise a further £1.5 million to complete its quest to build a new £4m hospice in Bath Road.
"Last year I attended an Acorns fund-raising event and when I decided to hold a fun day, it was the obvious charity," he said.
"I have children of my own who are thankfully fit and healthy."
Tickets can be bought in advance on 01905 754068 and cost £4 for adults and £1 for children under 15. Admission on the gate will be £5 for adults.
