IT was veteran pointer Bolshie Baron who took the plaudits at the Croome and West Warwichshire Hunt point-to-point at Upton-upon-Severn when the 14-year-old rolled back the years to produce a fine jumping display in the Confined.

Ridden by Micky Harris, who has been associated with the horse for over seven years, Bolshie Baron led his five rivals a merry dance gaining lengths at his fences and the partnership came home popular four length winners from Borderline Breeze.

The Novice riders Mixed Open race fell to the outsider Northern Motto who belied his 20/1 starting price with a game display over the final three fences as he repelled the challenge of Rusty Fellow and Pretoria Dancer to hold on and take the win by a diminishing four lengths.

Closest finish of the day was in the first division of the Maiden race where Julian Pritchard's mount Chocolate Bombe seemed to have the race in safe keeping jumping the last only to waver and run green on the run-in before holding on by a diminishing neck from the Mark Jackson ridden Coppermalt.

Title chasing jockey Richard Burton took another step closer to the title with a success on Run to the Glen in the PPORA Mares Maiden race taking him onto the 25 winner mark for the season and this was his seventh win over the Easter Bank Holiday period.
