Two stars
A HARROWING, violent, disturbing and downright nasty piece of film which makes you wonder how it ever slipped through the fingers of British censors.
The French film tells the story of two women, Manu and Nadine, who take pleasure in killing people, stealing their money or possessions and having a lot of sex.
The story was written by a former massage parlour hostess, Virginie Despentes, who decided the time was right to make it into a movie.
Both Manu and Nadine, played by real life porn actresses Karen Bach and Raffaella Anderson, get together after a rather rough patch in their lives.
Manu has just been the victim of gang rape and killed her brother and Nadine has just killed her roommate.
After meeting, the two girls unbelievably get on like a house on fire and decide to go on a rampage killing whoever they meet, including police who are now hot on their heels.
The Thelma and Louise storyline continues until a tragic end.
A film banned in many countries, including, ironically, France, is definitely not for family viewing.
It probably is one of the most explicit films you could buy over the counter without needing a brown paper bag to put it in or needing a stepladder to reach.
