Three star
'TAKE a top computer game and make it into a film' seems to be the best concept filmmakers can come up with these days.
But is Resident Evil as woeful as Kylie and van Damme's Street Fighter or as pants as Mortal Kombat?
Well, not quite. But having already seen it on the big screen, it would never live up to that first showing - would it?
The plot - a deadly virus has just been released into an underground research lab called The Hive killing all workers and turning them into hungry zombies.
A crack commando team led by Alice, played by the lovely Milla Jovovich from The Fifth Element, must enter The Hive and isolate the virus before it makes its way to the rest of the population, fighting zombies and anything else in their way.
Inevitably something does and to add to their worries the supercomputer controlling The Hive, Red Queen, tells them they're all going to die.
It's up to Alice to save the day.
Second time round was almost as good as the first plus you get to see more about how the film was made. The DVD has also got four featurettes about how they set the music to the film as well as zombie camera tests and the making of Resident Evil.
