DARREN Bullock has left Bromsgrove Rovers in the lurch over a fine dating back three months.

He was banned indefinitely from football on March 31 for failing to pay a fine after being sent off playing for Bromyard Town before he even joined Rovers in January.

That means Rovers cannot select the midfielder, who has only played four times for them since signing, until the fine is paid.

Bullock's Sunday league side New Chequers, who play in the Worcester and District Premier Division, are also affected.

Bromyard Town paid the original fine, believed to be only £27, but asked the Herefordshire Football Association to investigate when former football league player Bullock failed to pay them back.

He has since been sent two postal reminders by the Herefordshire FA to pay the fine, which has now been increased to £77, but they have not received a penny.

Herefordshire FA County Secretary, Jim Lambert, said: "The club is responsible for paying, which Bromyard Town did. But part and parcel of that is that the player repays them but he has failed to do so.

"He is suspended until he pays. He should not be playing any football."

But Rovers chairman Tom Herbert added: "He is still a Rovers player."
