DEAR EDITOR -- So now we know who the candidates are to be in the Droitwich Town election and isn't it interesting that the current leader of the council, who has come in for so much criticism here in the letters page, is not standing.
After all her hypocrisy about representing the views of the people, she 'jumps ship' before the electorate can judge her four years stewardship. The Independent group has withered on the vine and the Liberal Democrats have clearly struggled to get candidates, so it looks like the battle for control of the town is down to Tories v Labour, and who has got the bottle to take on the power base of the Pershore/Evesham Wychavon Group and start fighting for Droitwich?
Whatever your political views are, don't complain if after May 1 we end up with yet another group of councillors who ignore the wishes of the town and become puppets of the Wychavon District Council controlling group. We all have a chance to influence the type and style of council we want for the next four years...use your vote!
Kath and Dave MacFarlane,
Charles Henry Road,
Droitwich.
