REDDITCH Rugby Club could be spared relegation to North Midlands Two by the back door because second placed Worcester Wanderers are set to go up.
Worcester were offered a promotion play-off against the runners-up in Powergen Staffordshire One for the right to follow Solihull into Midlands Four next season.
But Linley, who finished second in Staffs One, have declined an offer to travel to face a strong Worcester side, paving the way for Wanderers to go up.
Worcester's good fortune is set to be shared by Redditch who could be spared the drop after finishing third from bottom in order to keep ten sides in North Midlands One.
Worcester have conceded their North Midlands Shield quarter final against Midlands Four outfit Old Saltleians so the higher league side visit the Portway on Saturday (ko 2.30pm) to face Solihull in the semi final.
Richard Gamlin's North Mids One champions were set to compete in the annual Alcester Sevens tournament at Kings Coughton on Sunday but have withdrawn in a bid to reach the Shield final.
Alcester still have vacancies and are hoping to at least equal last year's 16-strong entry.
Alcester warmed-up for the event by demolishing North Midlands Two-bound Five Ways Old Edwardians 27-7.
