SPORTING townsfolk are being invited to fall in 'love' with tennis at a club open day.
Barnt Green Tennis Club is hosting a play tennis day on Saturday, May 10, as part of a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) campaign to encourage more people to pick up a racquet.
The day is free of charge to all budding Tim Henmans or Steffi Grafs, whatever your age or ability, and the fun will be served from 10am onwards.
In the morning, players can pick up tips and handy hints from existing club members and coaches. Those without a racquet will be found one. A special speed gun will also be set up to check the speed of a serve.
The club has recently appointed French international player Fabienne Esperon as its new resident coach. Alan Robertson and a team of coaches from Dunlop will assist her.
During the afternoon session there will be a tournament for those who wish to take part and members will be paired up with visitors for a fun finale to the day.
Refreshments will be served in the clubhouse throughout the day and there will also be a raffle with tickets to the French Open as the top prize.
Those who join the Margesson Drive club on the day will be eligible for reduced membership fees.
Tennis club chairman Rosemary King said: "We look forward to welcoming lots of visitors to the club on May 10 and hope to make many new friends and maybe find some new Henmans." For further details call Martin on 0121 445 4299 or Jenny on 0121 445 4004.
