A FENCER from Droitwich Spa has underlined her ability in the sport by winning a regional title for the second time in three years.
Louisa Miller, chairman of the Spa's fencing club, battled past 15 other competitors to claim the West Midlands Indiviual Foil Championships in Chaddesley Corbett at the end of last month.
She said: "I was pleased to win it. It was a good competition and a good turnout.
"It's positive for the region to have a lot of female fencers."
The 24-year-old teacher from Rubery is currently ranked number 38 in England and also reached the last 16 of the Birmingham International Fening Championships last Saturday.
Louisa is now hoping to pass her expertise on to Spa youngsters at a beginners starting next week.
The club, who meet from 7.30pm on Tuesdays at Whitford Hall and Dodderhill School, in Crutch Lane, is staging a six-week course for anyone aged over eight-years-old.
Costing £30, which includes all equipment, the course will teach the basics of the sport and finish with an exam at grade one level, the first of nine fencing grades available.
