TEN members of Ludlow Borough Flying Club sent 77 birds to Frome, some 80 miles away.
The birds were liberated into a north-east wind and it turned out to be a hard race with the red card going to Cecil Biggs.
Kevin, his son, was a close second. Cecil also took third and fourth places, winning the Snowball. The pools went to R and T Bradley who were sixth.

Ludlow Homing Society began the old bird season on Saturday from Chepstow.
Liberated with the Shropshire Federation at 11-15 in a north-east wind, Charles Nicholas timed the first bird home followed by Phillip Nicholas with Trevor Hughes third. 1 C Nicholas 1061; 2 P Nicholas 1059; 3 T Hughes 1054; 4 M Tipton 1041; 5 C Pitt 1039; 6 T Hughes 1016.
