LUDLOW Hockey Club is making a plea for players, coaches or supportive parents who are interested in helping the development of the many talented young girl players from the secondary schools in south Shropshire.
For many years Ian Hughes has coached, organised and managed these youngsters and many now play county and club hockey while several have progressed even further.
Ian is unable to continue his high level of involvement and so the club urgently needs help to ensure a smooth transition from school to club hockey.
In particular, help is needed on three Tuesday evenings in May when the under-13 girls Badgers team play in the Shropshire League.
Badgers teams consist of nine under-13 (year 8 and below) players and two over-age adult players.Fixtures take place on the astro pitches at Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury.
Further help is needed during the winter season when a similar Badgers team but this time under-15 (year 10 and below) play in the Shropshire League on the second Sunday in each month. Again, fixtures are on astro turf at Bridgnorth.
If you would like to help, please contact the ladies captain, Annette Burgoyne, on 01584 87820, or president, Roger Furness, on 01584 874205.
