Tenbury United 3 Wollescote Sports 2-

TENBURY completed their Kidderminster League Premier Division programme with a convincing if narrow win over Wollescote. They dominated the game from start to finish and could have netted a hat-full with a little more composure in front of goal.

Second-placed United, can now only wait and hope that Norton Celtic pick-up less than five points from their three remaining games, in which case they will pip them for runners-up spot.

Karl Pearson netted the only goal of the first half when he took advantage of a block by the goalkeeper from a Stuart Wilson free kick, to knock in the rebound. Immediately afterwards the visitors were in deeper trouble when one of their side was sent-off for dissent.

Worse was to follow after the break when they lost two of their officials for a similar offence, but then they levelled the score with a far post header. George Pearson restored the lead and then John Welsh gave the score-line a more realistic look when he forced the ball home after the keeper had fumbled the ball under challenge from Ian Mason.

Tenbury continued to create and waste chances and with five minutes to go were given a scare as the Sports defied the odds to reduce the arrears with another header.

This Saturday, Tenbury entertain league rivals Norton Celtic in the final of the Tenbury Hospital Cup. The match will take place at Palmer's Meadow with a 2.30pm kick-off.
