MEMBERS of Alvechurch and Hopwood Cricket Club have fielded more than £3,000 by losing 22 stone between them in memory of a team-mate who tragically died.
Long-standing member Roger Astill died last season aged 39, so the club decided to raise sponsorship money to put towards a legacy for him.
And their unusual idea of losing half a stone each culminated at the weekend when the scales were brought out.
First team batsman Neville Rudge proved to be champion dieter, losing an impressive two stone.
Mr Astill's wife Marion and daughters Roseanne and Marie were there to watch the weigh-in.
