CITY streets will come alive with entertainers and showmen during Hereford's May Fair.
The three-day extravaganza will see thousands flock to the city to enjoy thrilling rides, side-shows, traditional food stalls, ancient ceremonies and the festival atmosphere.
Almost 200 entertainers will descend on Hereford for the grand opening at Cathedral Green, at 3.45pm, on Tuesday, May 6.
"The fair is part of the tradition and unique fabric of Herefordshire - and long may it continue," said Graham Jones, secretary of the South Wales Showman's Guild.
"In this day and age it's important to hold on to these community gatherings and celebrations so our towns don't all become bland and the same."
However, some of the city streets will close as a result of the occasion from Monday, May 5 until the early hours of Friday, May 9.
These will be Commercial Street, High Town, St Peter's Street, St Owen Street, Broad Street (below the junction of West Street and East Street), King Street and Bridge Street.
Warning
There are also other minor changes in the city centre and advance warning will be given on all routes advising of any closures.
Herefordshire Council is advising all drivers to be patient and considerate on the roads during the week of the fair.
