A RECOVERING heroin addict who raided the home of a Stourport sailor three days after he left to serve in the Gulf is making good progress on a drug testing and treatment order.
Lee Sandford, 21, of Wivelden Avenue, Stourport, has admitted raiding the Gilgal home of Steven Barnes and stealing goods worth £795 after entering through a bedroom window on Monday, January 13 with an accomplice.
He also admitted breaking into the house of an 81-year-old man.
Sandford was remanded in custody, but has been on the drug testing and treatment order as an alternative to jail, since Monday, March 17.
When Sandford appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 16, as part of the order, his probation officer said he was making good progress in tackling his drug addiction.
He is next due to appear on Friday, May 16.
During the desert war, Mr Barnes, 21, has been aboard HMS Ark Royal, which is due back in Britain on May 17.
