FIFTY jobs are set to be created in Evesham in a £2.7million restaurant and hotel development.

Prospective employees are being invited to attend a recruitment day at Evesham Jobcentre next Wednesday.

The posts are being created by Brewers Fayre at Twyford, for The Orchard Brewers Fayre and Travel Inn.

Positions to be filled include restaurant, bar kitchen and hotel staff.

The business will be managed by Paul and Marie Duggan, with Mr Duggan saying: "We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our team and anyone interested should come along to our recruitment day anytime between 11am and 6.30pm at the Jobcentre."

Owner Whitbread is investing the money in the dining and hotel establishment, which is due to open in June.

It will serve food all day, have car parking, disabled facilities and no smoking areas.

The Travel Inn will have 40 bedrooms, which will have single and family accommodation.

Mr Duggan said new recruits would receive training and a benefits package.

"For people wanting a career in the catering trade, there is real career progression."

Brewers Fayre has around 240 Brewers Fayres and 284 Travel Inns around the country.

Wychavon District Council's economic development and tourism manager, Phil Merrick, said: "The jobs creation is to be welcomed. The economy, at the moment, still remains quite buoyant but there are signs of potential difficulties in the future.

"It's good to get a national company, such as Whitbread, investing in the Evesham area. That helps to raise the profile of Evesham with other investors.

"In my experience, with Travel Inns, during the week they're mainly targeted at business customers; at weekends, they're geared very much towards visitors and tourists.

"That's got to be good news for the Vale of Evesham."
