THE LG Maize Technical Manual published by Nickersons (UK) Ltd outlines the nutritional characteristics of maize silage, suggesting different ways it can be used within high input and low input dairy systems and on beef and sheep farms.
"Forage maize is becoming a key ingredient on many livestock farms, because it is palatable, highly digestible and relatively consistent year on year," said manual author Hefin Richards, independent nutritionist
"Poor grass silage has been a major issue on many farms, a fact which has highlighted the benefits of good quality maize to many growers," he said.
The technical manual tracks the maize crop from drilling to feeding.
