DROITWICH drivers are being warned to take extra care of their car keys following two vehicle thefts.

Police are investigating two robberies involving keys being snatched from inside a house and used to steal cars from the drive or garage.

The first victim in Cutnall Green, near Droitwich Spa, on Thursday April 17.

Between 6.30pm and 10.30pm, burglars broke into a home in the village, stole keys for a green Land Rover Defender and made off in the vehicle.

Four days later a Blue Audi TT was stolen in a similar incident from a property in Ashton under Hill.

Police do not believe the offences are linked and both vehicles were recovered in other parts of the country.

Wychavon police intelligence officer PC Dave Weaver wants people to know these offences are occurring across Worcestershire and the rest of the Midlands.

"There are groups of thieves who are targeting the Droitwich and Evesham areas. We are working to build up crime patterns and analyse the offences that have occurred."

He advised people not to leave car keys near their front door.

PC Weaver said: "If you have a garage, then its best to keep the car locked in it and keep keys out of plain sight."

one with information about the incidents is urged to call police on 08457 444 888.
