SCOUTS and guides from the district will parade through the streets on Sunday in celebration of St George's Day.
Marching bands will lead the way as scores of youngsters wind through Kidderminster from the Scouts and Guides HQ in New Road for the annual parade celebrating the special day, yesterday.
The Scout groups, including Beavers and Cubs, will head to St George's and St Mary's churches for special services, while the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows will attend a service at Baxter Church.
Guests of honour will include mayor and mayoress Ken and Pauline Stokes and county commissioner Jo Dowling.
Also present will be the chairman and president of Kidderminster Scout Council, Mike Thompson and Richard Webb, and the organisation's vice presidents, district commissioner Dave Denton and his deputy Jenny Greener, Joe Nock and Sylvia Jones, county scout representative Liz Gait, police Chief Inspector Dave Jones and the chairman of Wyre Forest District Council Gordon Hinton.
The parade leaves New Road at 10.15am and will be led by parade marshall Peter Rand and feature music from the British Legion Youth Band, Halesowen Scout Band, KD4 (Wolverley) Rubery Youth Marching Band and the Boys Brigade Band.
Roads closed from 9.30am until 12.45pm will be New Road, between Pump and Marlborough Streets; Marlborough Street; Prospect Hill; Bromsgrove Street; Coventry Street; Radford Avenue; Horsefair, between Radford Avenue and Churchfields; Churchfields, down to St Mary's Church; High Street, between Coventry Street and Bull Ring; and Bull Ring.
