A HOME makeover winner has been "overwhelmed" by the re-vamp carried out at her Kidderminster house.
Widow Sue McGreevy scooped the top £2,000 prize in a raffle organised by Wyre Forest's Cancer Research UK committee and is now enjoying a new-look lounge, dining room and kitchen.
The 53-year-old, who has lived at her home in Puxton Drive for 31 years, lost her 48-year-old husband Barry to cancer five years ago. Peter Tomlinson lends a hand at the home or makeover winner Sue McGreevy.
Her father, brother and a number of other relatives have also died from the illness and Sue is a regular supporter of the cancer charity. She said the help and kindness she received from those involved in the makeover was invaluable and overwhelming.
The three rooms were decorated, coving was put up and she has had new carpets and curtains.
"It looks fantastic - it's been transformed," said Sue, who well understands the need for funding research into cancer.
"It's too late for people such as my husband Barry, my father, brother and other members of my family, but research must continue if they are to find cures in the future," she said.
Cancer Research UK Wyre Forest Committee chairman Peter Tomlinson, who helped out with the finishing touches, said: "The prize has gone to someone who knows all about what it's like to experience cancer and therefore appreciates as much as anyone the efforts of the committee in raising money."
