THE Perseus and Andromeda fountain at Witley Court was seen in its full glory again on Thursday as part of a £1 million restoration project for the water feature and surrounding gardens.
One of the largest in Europe, the fountain rivals the Trevi in Rome and was almost bought by Hollywood legends Bing Crosby and Stewart Grainger, who wanted to put it on a Chicago racecourse they owned. Thankfully their plan fell through - and this week visitors were able to enjoy the gushing waters for the first time since it became disused in 1937.
