NEW computer equipment to help the disabled get online and into work has come to Worcestershire.
Six centres in the county have benefited from new Government-funded "assistive technology" - technology which is easy to handle for people with sensory or physical difficulties.
They are: Evesham College, Malvern Hills College, The Living Newspaper.Com, in Worcester, Community Laptop Programme in Worcester, Fairfield Centre in Worcester, and New College in Bromsgrove.
As part of a £1.9m Government scheme, the new equipment will make 21st Century technology accessible to everyone - including those with no computer skills and those who cannot afford the internet at home.
It will mean they can use the internet to access government services, apply for jobs and improve their job skills.
The extra equipment will include big keys, a rollerball, which is an alternative to a computer mouse, a word processor with special needs support, an on-screen predictor, Supernova which magnifies text, and adjustable trolleys for wheelchair users.
Under the scheme, all staff at the centre will also be trained to understand visitors' special needs.
