YOUNG cricketers will converge on Hanley Castle High School as practice sessions begin for under-10s.
Hanley and Upton Cricket Club has two colts teams that will meet for the first time on Friday, May 2.
Organiser Grant Matthews, who is also head of sixth form at the school, said membership of the club had good social benefits.
"We're keen to get some youngsters in to the club environment," he said.
"All the social benefits of playing are very important."
The club received a lottery grant several years ago that led to it working more closely with local schools.
Practice sessions on the school field will be on Fridays, from 4pm to 6pm. The teams will play regular games in the Worcester Colts Cricket League. The under-12 team also has a full fixture list throughout the season and will meet for practice before each match.
Membership of the club is required but the level of fees had not yet been decided at the time of going to press.
