THE two teams contesting the Soccer Site Malvern League Division One title both notched up eight goals in comfortable home victories on Sunday.
League leaders Bull Allstars overcame third-placed Morgan Aero 8 by 8-1 with goals from Dave Zakkoti, Chris Stone, Paul James and five from prolific goalscorer Jamie James.
Green Dragon found themselves faced by only eight players from Madresfield and they took the points with an 8-0 victory. Their goals came from Lee Harris, Wayne Tizzard and a six-goal haul from leading scorer Darren Gwynne.
Club AC 30 were only leading visitors Eeore by 1-0 at half time but a second half flurry of goals saw them achieve a 11-0 victory. Goal scorers were John Haywood, Danny Morris, Matt Rees, a hat-trick from Aaron Parr and four from second half substitute Jason Payton-Smith.
Worcester Juniors took the points with a 4-1 victory over bottom-placed St Peters with goals from Chris Rastall, James Hodgkins, Ross Dalton and substitute Jamie Lawrence with St Peters response coming from Michael Griffin.
In the remaining fixture Dynamo Ledbury defeated visitors Kempsey United Reserves by 3-0 with goals from Richard Punt, in the second minute, followed by a goal with his first touch by substitute Matt Williams. They rounded off with a goal from Matthew Grey following a well worked free kick routine.
Both Thursday night's Soccer Site Malvern League games were close affairs and were only settled by the odd goal. Leaders Bull Allstars were made to work hard by near neighbours Dynamo Ledbury who were nine places below them in the league before taking the points with a 3-2 victory. The home side shocked the leaders when they took the lead with a goal from Richard Punt, Bull Allstars equaliser was an unstoppable shot from distance by Mark Tomans. Two penalties from Jamie James either side of half time gave Bull Allstars a 3-1 lead but a goal in the 85th minute by Dynamo's Ben Moss led to an exiting last few minutes.
In the night's other game visitors Club AC 30 cruised to a 4-0 half time lead with goals from Dan Haywood, Aaron Parr and two from Jason Payton Smith. Madresfield struck back in the second half with goals from Tyrone Fisher and two from Wayne Cadmore to set up an exiting finish, but the visitors held on to take the points.
Tuesday night saw a rehearsal for the Senior Cup final when league leaders Bull Allstars entertained Club AC 30.
It turned out to be a bad night in more than one way for the Bull Allstars who not only dropped two valuable points but also suffered three bad injuries to players which will leave them with a depleted squad for the rest of the season.
The game started well for the home side and they took a 2-0 lead inside the first 30 minutes before both Nicky Loader and Shaun Pickering had to leave the field with hamstring problems. Club AC 30 pulled a goal back just before half time.
The second half saw Bull Allstars score again but they suffered a major blow when central defender Jerry Cowdery suffered a bad head injury which needed hospital treatment. Club AC 30 made it 3-3 and for the last 30 minutes Bull Allstars were forced to defend with only 10 men as they had used all their substitutes prior to the injury to Cowdery.
Bull goalscorers were Jamie James (two) and Mark Toman with Club AC 30's scorers being, Arron Parr, Andy Morris and Jonathon Creba.
Green Dragon took advantage of Bull's misfortune to pull back two points with a comfortable 7-1 victory over visitors Morgan Aero 8. Their goalscorers were Dave Gilbert, Lee Harris, Stewart Graham and two each for Luke Johnson and Jason Westmacott.
In the night's only other game Madresfield returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over visitors Dynamo Ledbury. In an entertaining and sporting encounter both home goals were scored by Wayne Cadmore. Dynamo Ledbury were awarded a penalty in the 75th minute and Andy Thomas stepped up to net his 20th goal of the season. Madresfield were under pressure for the rest of the game and made a couple of crucial goal line clearances.
In what was their final game of the season Dynamo Ledbury's scorer Adam Thomas took the honours as leading goalscorer courtesy of his penalty with the absent John Walker finishing with 19.
March's team of the month is Kempsey United Reserves.
