HAVING never reached a cup final before Express put in another solid performance to win their second semi final in as many Sundays.
EXPRESS 2, REDNAL SOCIAL 1
They got through to the Infirmary Cup final to add to the Bernard Finnegan final where they have already booked a place.
A tough game against a strong Birmingham side proved to Express that they can play some quality football when required as they always had the upper hand on a bouncy Victoria Park surface.
Neil Bond set up Andy Shepherd for what was probably the goal of the season to put Express one up, before the visitors levelled on the stroke of half time.
A fine second half strike from captain Mark Taylor then put Express through to the final.
ST JOHNS 2, EXPRESS 8
THE previous midweek Express returned to league duty in some style and easily dispatched a side they made hard work of beating in last week's semi final.
On a pleasant summer like evening Express made several changes before and during the game. Goals from Andy Shepherd (three), Stu Summers, Neil Bond and another hat-trick for Jamie Roberts to take him past 50 this season ensured Express kept up the pressure at the top of Division Two.
Express' remaining games are Sunday, Kays Athletico at home, Thursday, May 1, away to Cutnall Green, Sunday, May 4, away to Oak Apple, Tuesday May 6, versus Blackpole in the Bernard Finnegan cup final and on Friday, May 9, Alvechurch or Bromsgrove General Reserves in the Infirmary Cup final. A busy run in as Express chase a treble.
