CONTROVERSIAL plans to build houses next to a former Cradley pub will be considered by councillors next week.
The Crown Inn has been at the centre of a row after its owner, David Woodward, said in November 2002 that he wanted to turn the pub, which closed 15 years ago, into housing.
Last month, he withdrew the application but has submitted a new plan to build four homes near the 300-year-old pub and turn a Grade II listed barn into a B&B.
Campaigners, the Crown Crusaders, who have battled to get the pub reopened, said the plans would spoil garden space and that not enough parking would be provided.
However, Mr Woodward said the reopening of the Crown Inn remained part of his business plan.
Officers for Herefordshire Council have recommended approval of the plans. The council's northern area planning committee will consider the application at the Council Chamber, Brockington, on Wednesday (April 30), at 2pm.
