A BRING and buy sale has been organised by two Colwall pupils keen to help children in Tanzania and Uganda.
Downs School youngsters Hani El-Bay, aged seven, and his nine-year-old sister Noorah, were so concerned by reports on TV's Blue Peter that they decided to do something to help.
The programme highlighted the fact that a child dies every 15 seconds around the world from disease caused by dirty drinking water, and that in parts of Tanzania children have to walk for up to seven hours a day to fetch often polluted water for their families.
Hani said: "The water looked disgusting and the children were very tired and thin."
His sister added: "We're very lucky to have homes with running water and a lovely school as well. Some children never get that chance."
Coca Cola Enterprises, Madresfield Garden Centre, Hunts the Florist, John the Greengrocer, Cridlan & Walker organic butchers, Mrs Nicholls of Barnards Green House in Malvern and Tesco in Ledbury are supporting the event with donations of sale goods. Cakes, plants, toys, second-hand children's clothes and rides will also be available at the event at the Downs School, tomorrow (Saturday), from noon to 1.30pm.
