THE inaugural official meeting of a scuba diving club is taking place at the Marlbank Inn, Welland on Sunday.
The club, being formed by two diving friends, Patrick Catherall and Mark Eastwood, is aimed at bringing qualified divers together regardless of which training agency they are affiliated to.
Scuba diving is a popular sport, but most divers suffer from the same problem in that they lack a diving partner. The aim of the club is to provide an introduction to other diving partners locally.
The club has already held a fundraising event and has several hundred pounds in its funds. Further fundraising events are planned with all proceeds going to benefit the club members.
Currently the club has seven members but would like to see its membership grow to around 20.
The club aims to arrange diving trips on a regular basis within the UK and abroad.
Anybody interested in joining is welcome to turn up at the meeting and have their say on how the club should run.
Further details can be obtained from Patrick Catherall on (01684) 899020.
