The dangers of the cheap bicycle were strikingly exemplified one day this week by a mishap in the Worcester Road.
A wheelman was going down the hill towards the police station when the tubes connecting the front and rear wheels snapped as if cut by a knife and the rider sustained a nasty fall.
As he walked away, carrying a piece of machine in each hand, he volunteered the statement that he had bought the bicycle only a week before for £4 19s 6d. Malvern News, April 24, 1903.

In an effort to augment the funds available for Coronation festivities in the Priory Ward, a garden fete will be held in the grounds of Douglas House school, by permission of Mrs Owen-Williams on Saturday, May 2.
Many sideshows and stalls have been arranged, and these will include fortune-telling and a number of ingenious electrical games and competitions. Malvern Gazette, April 24, 1953.
At the annual Dymock Parish Council meeting at the school on Monday, it was reported that after the rain during the early hours of that morning, an overflow of sewage had occurred from one of the drains in the centre of the village. This was considered serious, as a new sewerage system had only recently been laid, at a great expense. Ledbury Reporter, May 1, 1953

A 12-year-old dream became a reality on Saturday for the West Midlands Baptist Association when it opened its conference centre at St Edward's, West Malvern.
The centre will provide a focal point for Baptists throughout the region, serving as a base for a multitude of activities, youth groups, day conferences, Bible schools, lay training weekends and casual holidays are among the suggested uses.
More than 800 people came to the centre for the opening, and the turn-out was so large less than half could be accommodated in the chapel for the thanksgiving service. Malvern Gazette, April 27, 1978.
Plastic thatch may provide the means of preserving the appearance of Foley Cottage, Tarrington, on which a building preservation notice is to be served by Malvern Hills District Council.
The owner of the 16th Century timber-framed cottage asked the committee about the possible removal of thatch, and replacement with tiles. Ledbury Reporter, April 27, 1978.
