L SPITERI says "there has been no marked decrease in traffic on our roads during rush hour" because of our park-and-ride scheme.
I have been saying that for years. I said it before the site was built. Park-and-ride will never reduce Worcester's traffic and it actually makes it worse, because of what are laughingly called road improvements and bus priority schemes.
Park-and-ride takes 450 cars off our roads, at a cost to local council taxpayers of £250,000 a year in annual losses.
Calling that a success defines the incompetence of those involved in this disaster. Perdiswell is a monument to Labour's lunacy.
The development-mad in Worcester add 500 new homes to our city every year. Those new homes add 4,000 extra car journeys to our roads every day.
Therefore, for park-and-ride to halt the growth in Worcester's traffic, which stems from the activities of these people we would have to build a new park-and-ride site every year, just to stand still in traffic terms.
The plain unvarnished truth is that Worcester is full up. Worcestershire is full up and the United Kingdom is full up.
Yet last year, the Government presided over a situation in which 750,000 extra people came to live in our nation.
I have said enough it enough, and many other have said enough is enough. But the only politicians listening are the UKIP; and the BNP who seem likely to remove Labour from Holy Trinity Ward in the May Elections.
Getting the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Parties to listen is impossible. It is on a par with the search for extraterrestrial life. And they wonder why their support is ebbing away. Somebody should tell them, but they won't listen.
N TAYLOR,
Worcester.
