HAVING just read your news article (Evening News, Thursday, April 17), I felt that I must write to comment on the Bikers Rally to be held at the Farmer's Arms during August 22-24.

I was very surprised to hear that there had been complaints about the rally.

I'm even more surprised that environmental officers will be monitoring the event.

At least they'll see first hand that there isn't a real problem here!

A number of people have made comments in the past. But who are all these people? Where do they live?

There's a motorway in between the pub and other residents on one side, with my family and I living on the other.

No one has asked us if we have suffered from this terrible rally. We haven't been approached by anyone, official or not, to ask how we feel!

Well, if anyone is interested, we are in support of it.

Everyone has a great time, it is full of families camping for the weekend - I know because I can see them out of my windows - and there was no trouble at all.

The horses in our field were not upset, neither did anyone bother them.

Of course there's some noise, but at least it is the noise of people enjoying themselves.

There should be things like this for people to look forward to, it's fun up here for a few days. I don't see what harm this kind of occasional weekend can do.

I would like to say that, although I'm not a biker, I was allowed to buy a ticket and treated courteously.

Perhaps if the bikers were wearing suits, there would be fewer complaints!

I also believe that the organisers of this rally do a lot of charity events and support the Air Ambulance and MacMillan Nurses - between rampaging around the countryside causing a nuisance of course.
