STAR batsman Graeme Hick will give his full backing to Ben Smith who has replaced him as Worcestershire's new captain.
The controversial switch in leadership was referred to by New Road chairman John Elliott during last night's annual meeting.
Elliott said: "The captaincy was discussed in committee and Gra-eme was disappointed. I think anybody losing the captaincy of a club is naturally disappointed.
"But Graeme has signed a two-year extension to his current contract so he's under contract to us for four years.
"He's 100 per cent behind Ben Smith and all he wants to do is score lots of runs and be in a team which wins trophies."
Details were also revealed last night about a 14-day pre-season tour of South Africa for the County players. Three games, possibly four, will be played between March 24 and April 7.
The tour has been organised by committee member and former New Road fast bowler Neal Radford. His election was confirmed last night along with Tim Curtis, David Broughall, Duncan Fearnley and Mike Gilhooly.
