A FAMILY will miss out on their summer holiday because they fear they will fall victim to burglars yet again.

Michelle Price said her family of five wanted to make sure their Worcester home was not a target after they were burgled for the second time.

On Monday, April 28, she left her home in Drake Avenue around 8.30am.

She had to take two of her children to school, while 13-year-old Gareth walked to Christopher Whitehead High School.

Mrs Price is a dinner-time supervisor at the high school and at St Clement's CE Primary School in St John's.

But when Gareth returned home around 3.30pm, he discovered the break-in and found his Playstation 2 console and games had been stolen.

"My son is very angry and upset," said Mrs Price.

"Some were quite new games. I think people are sad that people will can steal from kids.

"I'll have to make sure that everything is locked up and so secure now.

"We don't think we'll go on holiday this year because we don't want to leave the house.

"We left a tiny bathroom window open. Someone has climbed up and managed to open the bigger window and climbed though it."

The family has lived in Dines Green for nine years. The first time they were burgled was a year after they moved in and a PlayStation 1 console was stolen. They have also had bikes stolen from a locked shed.

"People do it for drugs," said Mrs Price.

Worcester Police are investigating the burglary and have urged householders to lock up their homes to ward off thieves.

"By protecting our homes and making them look less attractive to burglars, we can prevent a lot of burglaries from happening," said PC Mike Stephenson, crime risk manager for south Worcestershire.

"All windows need to have a visible lock on them. Make sure when you leave the house unattended, to lock securely all windows and doors."
