GARY Hackett and Jon Ford are due for showdown talks with chairman Tom Herbert this week over their future as managers of Bromsgrove Rovers.

The duo are seeking clarification amid rumours they could be replaced in the close season despite their Rovers side guaranteed a top four Dr Martens Western finish.

Swindon Supermarine visit the Victoria Ground this Saturday in Rovers' final league match, a game which could turn out to be the pair's last in charge.

Rovers made a dream start to the current campaign, occupying top spot for many weeks and they have never been below fifth!

Hackett said: "Our future is uncertain. In my eyes we have had a very successful season. We are guaranteed a top four finish and to finish third with the budget we have got would be a remarkable achievement.

"I do think the nucleus of the side is there for next season but it's whether we will be there to see it.

"We have had a bad spell and we can't hide away from that fact but this club has moved forward dramatically since we took over."

Ford added: "I am surprised all this has come about but I am looking forward to getting it sorted out."

Hackett and Ford took over in the middle of last season with the club treading water in the Midland Alliance. From there, Rovers lost twice in 26 games and won promotion as runners-up.

And last Saturday's 1-0 victory at already promoted Weston-Super-Mare made it ten points from 15 this month.

"We should have beaten them 4-0," Hackett added. "They were after the championship so anybody who thought they would take it lightly got it wrong."

Chairman Herbert dismissed rumours and said the position would be reviewed at the end of the season.
