A ROAD was closed when a lorry was in collision with a gas pressure reduction machine on a grass verge on Worcester's Blackpole industrial estate.
The incident happened near the sales area of the Plumb Centre, Cosgrove Close, at 9.10am yesterday.
A spokesman for gas company Transco said the collision led to a large release of gas into the atmosphere.
"The fire brigade closed the road at the junction, but no evacuation was required," he said.
"We carried out temporary repair work, and hope to carry out permanent repairs tomorrow."
An emergency tender was sent by Hereford and Worcester Fire Brigade, and police dealt with traffic in the area.
Nobody was hurt in the incident. The Plumb Centre was left without gas for two-and-a-half hours.
