MIDGE Ure has had hits across the last four decades, and has scooped Ivor Novello and Grammy awards along the way and he'll be in Worcestershire in May.
He'll be appearing at the Huntingdon Arts in Worcester on May 14 (8pm).
In the early part of this year, he was honoured with his own edition of the legendary TV tribute show "This Is Your Life", played a one-man acoustic tour of the UK, took part in an all-star tribute gig with the likes of Paul Weller and Noel Gallagher, and performed a sell-out gig at Arlene's Grocery in New York, with fans such as Matt Dillon and Moby begging to be on the guest list.
Musicians rarely make it to a solo career of more than a decade and a half. Midge Ure had already had numerous hits by the time "If I Was" went to No.1 in 1985.
and had guided six bands into the charts, including Silk, the Rich Kids, Thin Lizzy, Ultravox, Visage, and of course, the most famous one-off group in the history of pop music, Band Aid.
He is best known as lead singer and songwriter for Ultravox, innovative style-makers who hit the charts with tracks like "Reap The Wild Wind", "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes", "Love's Great Adventure" and 1981's timeless "Vienna". These were all massive hits the world over, and the band charted with awesome regularity, not only on singles, but with seven consecutive top ten albums in just six years.
Midge has also acted as musical director for stellar rock concerts for The Prince's Trust and in honour of Nelson Mandella. He has produced records for Phil Lynott, Steve Harley and countless others. He has directed videos of memorable hits by the Fun Boy Three, Bananarama and has TV, theatre and film credits ranging from 'Max Headroom' to stage and big screen.
Its amazing what you can cram into a quarter-century --but only when you're as creative as Midge Ure.
