PARENTS and those in low paid work are being urged to act fast to claim cash benefits.
In April, extra money became available for those with children, and others requiring a boost to their earnings, through the child tax credit and the working tax credit schemes.
But Worcester's Citizens' Advice Bureau is concerned thousands will lose out on extra money because they are unaware they have to apply.
Generous
"The new system is actually quite generous and should mean more money for families with children, disabled people who are working, and other in low paid work," said Worcester CAB's manager, Michael Gardner.
"But the system is quite complicated and confusing and the message hasn't got through clearly that people need to register their claim. They must do this to avoid losing out."
Anyone with a claim should contact their nearest bureau - in the Hopmarket, Worcester, on 01905 611371 - or telephone the Inland Revenue Tax Credits Helpline on 0845 300 3900.
