THE Redditch Advertiser's own Becky Procter, running under her married name of Becky Hancox, romped home in front of most of the field at Stratford's Shakespeare Half Marathon to be the sixth woman across the line.
Chief reporter Procter, who finished a creditable 127th overall in her first 13-miler, finished in a time of 1.33.27, ahead of the top Bromsgrove and Redditch AC competitor.
The unattached runner was one of two Advertiser finishers with sub-editor Sarah Cowen finishing after 2.28.16.
Warwick University runner Kate Hext was the first woman home, in 1.25.42.
Rowena Bayles, of Rowney Green, led the way for B&R finishing ninth in 1.35.29. Her stable mates were Judy Appleby, 40th in 1.44.26; Johanne Hounsell, 107th in 1.54.18 and Linda Crawley, 253rd in 2.09.45.
Men's winner was William Musyoki in a time of 1.08. Bromsgrove and Redditch representatives were Kevin Lankham, 18th in 1.21.23; Gordon Marshall, 58th in 1.27.43 and David Whipp, 448th in 1.50.06.
In the full marathon, Matty Atcock completed in 2.49.36. Andrew Millington for Bromsgrove and Redditch finished in 4.21.20 to be 286th man home.
Winner of the women's full marathon was Melanie Ellis in 3.02.36.
