South Wales Warriors 12 Redditch Arrows 27
ARROWS recorded their first win of the season at the third attempt.
After successive away day defeats, the Ash Lane side eased to a 15 point win in Cardiff.
Warriors won the toss and elected to receive.
A breakaway 50 yard run put the hosts on the Arrows' 15 yard line and two plays later went in from 11 yards to take an early 6-0 lead.
The Arrows immediately responded when, following a good kick-off return, the offense drove upfield to level with Anthony Perkins' two yard run.
Both teams struggled to move the ball on the next series of possessions but the Arrows presented the Warriors with the chance to re-take the lead when a fumble on a punt left the ball on the Arrows' 20 yard line.
The Warriors capitalised by completing an 18 yard pass to open up a 12-6 advantage.
The remainder of the half saw both teams swap possession but without threatening.
The second half saw a revitalised Arrows team take control.
A 70 yard drive based on the rushing talents of Perkins and Mills saw Perkins go in from nine yards to tie up the game at 12-12.
The Warriors' next possession saw the turning point in the game when Arrows defensive lynchpin Will Slimming intercepted a Warriors pass and returned the ball to their three yard line.
The Arrows were hitting a purple patch and two plays later Toby Rhodes went in from two yards.
Coupled with a successful two point conversion the Arrows took the lead for first time at 20-12.
In the fourth quarter both defenses were on top.
The deadlock was finally broken when the Arrows sealed the win after Perkins went in for his third touchdown of the game for a commanding 27-12 lead.
A spirited Warriors team tried to pull the game closer and put together a good drive through a passing attack in the last two minutes.
This was stopped when Arrows linebacker Andy McAnneny sacked the Warriors quarter back causing him to fumble and effectively end the game.
Arrows open their Ash Lane programme against Southern Sundevils on Sunday (ko 2.30pm).
