THE lack of a footpath from the bus station to Plymouth Road has been raised at Neighbourhood Group meetings and the County Contact meeting and I have written to the Kingfisher Centre management but all with no positive response.

There is obviously a failure in the design which means that pedestrians prefer to walk in the road over the former railway bridge rather than cross Bromsgrove Road by the long way round, i.e. the pedestrian crossing and the traffic lights.

The footway under the road connects the station with Plymouth Road but not the bus station, and the flight of steps from this footpath only leads to a locked door!

No doubt, when an accident happens and an elderly person or a child is killed or injured, the usual "game" of pass the buck will take place and whoever is really responsible will deny all knowledge of the problem.

I would also like to mention that the "kiss and drive" layby provided by the Development Corporation off Plymouth Road has been removed by the new development.

It seemed a good idea at that time. Do drivers no longer drop off passengers for the buses and trains?

The signs are still in position

stating 'In' and 'Out'!

I have also written to the Kingfisher management pointing out that the original Car Park 1 direction sign at the junction of Plymouth Road and Bromsgrove Road still remains, together with other out-of-date information, but there are no signs on Plymouth Road showing where the entrance to the Car Park is.

I have received no reply to that letter, or others regarding the lack of direction signs for pedestrians in Car Parks 1 and 2.

I don't know what else to do to effect an improvement in these situations. Do you?
