THE Rev DM Vaughan writes (Letters, April 16) that Jesus said 'I come not to send peace but a sword' in an attempt to imply divine support for war.
The Reverend totally ignores the fact that the passage from which he quotes has nothing to do with war whatsoever.
It's rather like quoting Jesus' perception that 'Man does not live on bread alone' (Matthew 4) as meaning that the Son of God was arguing that margarine was a good thing.
