I AM dismayed and disappointed at the decision to grant planning permission to build on the Grangers Lane/Rough Hill Drive site.
I felt the way the planning committee meeting was conducted was unfair and I refer particularly to the interrogating manner some councillors used in questioning the speakers.
In several instances, questions put to speakers were irrelevant to the speech delivered and valuable time was wasted, resulting in some prepared speeches not being delivered at all as time had run out.
Overall, the residents of Towbury Close were left feeling cheated out of their last opportunity to present vital aspects of their case.
In order to appreciate more realistically how overbearing this project will be to the residents whose properties border the land, a Towbury Close resident went to a great deal of trouble to produce a drawing showing height relationship between their properties and proposed new ones.
This was posted on the display board for councillors to view.
It was a pity, however, that none appeared to take the trouble to do so.
This area at present is a sanctuary for many species of wildlife, unaware of the desolation that awaits them because those in authority in 1996 designated this piece of land suitable for building without even setting foot in the area.
And now they are prepared to spend public money on ground totally unsuitable for the purpose.
