I BEG to differ with Richard Attwood, the county council senior project manager, over the new layout for Sainsbury's island.
I live on Birmingham Road and can assure him there are dreadful tailbacks, going back further than Weights Lane at times.
This is not at peak times, it is early evening and mid-afternoon and morning, when the traffic is at its lightest.
At the island, the traffic was originally able to divide into three lanes and work round the island. Now, they are all pushed into one lane, which causes the tailback.
The Highway Code says the way the island was laid out originally was correct. The markings now are incorrect.
This is likely to cause more accidents, not only because people will get impatient with the delays but because people haven't got the slightest idea what to do at the island.
