THERE should be no problem with Redditch Market moving back to Market Place, according to highway bosses.

Redditch Council officers asked their counterparts at Worcestershire County Council if they would object to a permanent site in Market Place.

The step was taken to try to address calls from disgruntled stallholders, who have seen trade drop drastically since they moved to the new market outside Debenhams shortly before Christmas.

Despite crisis talks and moves to improve the new market, traders want to be moved back to Market Place where they were temporarily located last year.

A final decision on the future of the market will be made during a special full council meeting on May 12.

Meanwhile, stallholders have been given a 50 per cent rent reduction throughout May and kiosk holders have been given a 75 per cent rent reduction.
