WESTFIELDS closed in on the West Midlands Premier Division title with a 3-0 win at Sedgley last night.
Only a mathematical disaster can prevent the Hereford side taking the championship with nearest rivals Kington Town needing to win all four of their last games and Westfields lose their final three games by big margins.
Westfields are without a game on Saturday while Kington face a tricky trip to Shawbury in an effort to gain another win and a hatful of goals to set up Monday's top of the table clash at Rotherwas.
The Rotherwas side gave a solid performance last night to clinch a league double over Sedgley.
Westfields got off to a dream start with Derek Craddock and Roy Jordan both going close before they opened the scoring in the 18th minute.
Matt Beale got free down the right and put over a superb cross which Jordan flicked on at the near post and Mark Hibbard raced in to chest the ball over the line at the far post.
Ten minutes later Westfields doubled their lead when Matt Phillips, Jordan and Wayne Hoskins made a contribution to put Craddock away with a 40 yard run on goal.
Craddock beat the advancing Darren Haddlington with a superb right foot rising shot from 20 yards to give Westfields a 2-0 lead.
The visitors again continued to work hard after the break and scored a third goal when Craddock got free down the right and his low cross was met by Hibbard who crashed the ball into the net to put Westfields into a comfortable lead.
Sedgley came back and Jon Pugh made a fine save at the foot of the post to deny Scott Foster a goal.
Chris Jefferson and Kevin Jinks then both saw good efforts cleared off the Sedgley goal line as Westfields looked like adding to their scoreline.
