AROUND 1,000 Scouts and their leaders from the Bromsgrove area, together with a number of Girl Guides, marched through the town on Sunday for their annual St George's Day service.
PLANS to twin Bromsgrove with a town in Germany near the Dutch border had suffered a major blow. An appeal to Bromsgrove District Council for half the cost of sending a six-man delegation to Germany to arrange the twin was thrown out because the authority was short of cash.
LICENSING justices in Bromsgrove gave 18-year-old Tracey Jarvis, the mother of a five-month-old baby, the go-ahead to manage her father's pub, the Gate Hangs Well at Woodgate. Malcolm Giles also owned the Queen's Head at Stoke Pound.
A TRADE slump looked set to result in job loses at Garringtons, Bromsgrove's largest employers, who had 2,600 on the payroll. Talks were going on with unions over compulsory redundancies.
